POI DOGS & POPOKI

The mission of Poi Dogs & Popoki is to end the euthanasia of animals that fill our shelters on Oahu. We focus on four key strategies:

  • Reducing pet overpopulation by providing affordable spay and neuter services
  • Helping pets find their way home by mandating a microchip identification for all animals helped through PDP
  • Reducing pet surrenders by providing access to affordable health and wellness services
  • Rescuing abandoned and stray animals, placing them into foster care, and adopting them into loving homes

PetSmart Charities Grant

In the News

PDP has received a grant from PetSmart Charities to spay and neuter dogs and cats owned by native Hawaiians living on Hawaiian Homestead in Waianae and Waimanalo. The subsidized rate is $20 for dogs and $5 for cats. All pets receive a microchip identification, pain meds and a cone for the head.

Please talk to staff at check-in if you are native Hawaiian and please provide the name of your homestead association and/or other information that proves your Hawaiian ancestry.

PDP will also be reaching out to Hawaiian Homestead Associations to provide a microchip identification scanner for the community so that stray animals can be returned to their owners more quickly. Returning pets to their owners instead of requesting stray animal pick up by animal control will save lives. 70 percent of animals on Oahu are euthanized. Please microchip your pet.

Poi Dogs & Popoki is now participating in the City's Neuter Now Program.

You do NOT need a certificate to take advantage of our low cost spay/neuter services on the Big Fix.  We have no additional out of pocket fees and our fees are the same cost as a Neuter Now certificate. Just check our schedule of clinics to find a site near you. Our fees include a microchip identification, pain meds, and the cone for the head.

If you are an EBT cardholder, it costs only $20 to spay or neuter a dog or cat. You must purchase a Neuter Now EBT certificate from a satellite city hall.

PDP's Big Fix mobile clinic will continue to provide families the most affordable spay/neuter option on Oahu. Please go to the Big Fix page for more information.
